About the Makers Guild INC
Our Story
The Makers Guild INC started in October of 2026 when Nicky Peters and Pedro Melendez decided they wanted to give back to the community that has supported them for so long through The Witch and the Geek.why is it so hard to just make things?
As they grew and desired expansion they saw an opportunity to extend that desire to the community by opening a community artist guild where local makers and artists can come and create in a collaborative community.
Today, the Guild is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit looking for its forever home while we teach classes and begin our collaborative relationships with local businesses through art shows, charity events and classes.
We're not a gallery. We're not a school. We're a place where the work actually happens.
What We Stand For
No gatekeeping, no prerequisites. Whether you've never held a paintbrush or you've been making for thirty years, you belong here.
We won't silence a voice. Especially the voices of the marginalized and traditionally silenced.
Expensive equipment shouldn't be a barrier to making. Our shared tool library means access isn't gated by budget.
We're a Kansas institution — shaped by the Flint Hills, the land-grant spirit, and the people who live and work here.
